Thank you for your interest in the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange program. The application cycle for 2010-2011 has closed. Applications for 2011-2012 will be available in the fall. Please check back periodically for more information.
How to Apply
To apply, determine which organization is recruiting in your state.
IMPORTANT NOTE: YFU USA has a separate page for applying for the scholarship. If YFU USA is recruiting in your state, please access this link to proceed.
ALSO IMPORTANT: If you are applying in states where a deadline extension has been granted (see below), please note that due to a scheduled systems upgrade, you will not have access to work on your application from January 1 to January 4, 2010.
Click here for the on-line application (applicants will need to register and create an account before being able to begin the on-line application), or look at the map to the left and contact the appropriate organization. Note that some parts of the application (i.e., teacher recommendations and school transcripts) must be mailed to your regional sending organization. Please refer to the map on the left for the address of the organization working in your home state.
Only those students who meet the basic eligibility requirements will be considered. Applicants from all racial, economic, ethnic, religious, and social backgrounds are encouraged to apply, as are students with disabilities. Applications will be evaluated
based on:
• Evidence of the personal qualities essential for adjustment to another culture, such as flexibility, curiosity, open-mindedness, a sense of humor, and a tolerance for failure
• Written and oral communication skills
• Motivation for a cross-cultural experience
• Academic merit
The deadline is December 18, 2009* and may be extended by your regional organization.
* YFU USA has extended its deadline to February 9, 2010
* CIEE has extended its deadline to January 11, 2010
